MEET EKSKLUSIEF’S PHOTO INFANTRY.

Every story has to start somewhere, and for many of us at Eksklusief, it started with a camera. We are a diverse team of creatives who offer a wide range of services, which are somehow rooted in photography. Not only does this shared interest provide easy conversation for us as a team, but it also establishes us as a powerhouse of photographers with an incredible variety of photography experience, equipped to take on larger-scale photography projects.

So why would one need an army of photographers? First of all, photographers tend to specialise in certain fields. You might not book the same photographer for a portrait as you would for a product. At Eksklusief, we can send you the right photographer for the job.

Secondly, you might find yourself in a situation where you need more than one photographer at the same time. This is a typical scenario at events, but could also be necessary when taking portraits of staff in a large corporation. We can set up several studios at once, getting your portraits done in less time.

Let’s further explain this by use of an example. We were recently commissioned to photograph the interiors and exteriors of 50 buildings in Pretoria and Johannesburg. Our team of four photographers was able to complete the project in eight working days, keeping in mind that exterior photos could only be taken during the twilight “golden” hours. Of course, this didn’t include time spent on post-production.

Our core team of photographers comprises Annemarie, Marius, Robin and Marike. Our photo retoucher, Deidre, and photographic stylist, Nadia, further expand the photography team into a full photo infantry. Their skills and experience are so wonderfully diverse that it is well worth writing a paragraph about each of them. Here goes.

Annemarie is a well-known portrait photographer for the stars, having photographed many celebrities for magazine covers and editorials, mostly for local LiG magazine. Being in the industry her whole adult life, Annemarie is an experienced photographer with great interpersonal skills, who will make anyone feel comfortable in front of the lens. From celebrity weddings to her long-standing relationship with the ATKV, Annemarie is skilled in working in unpredictable and often difficult lighting situations, common with events and theatre productions. Annemarie’s love for people is evident in her work and we’re looking forward to seeing more of this in her upcoming personal project, “Women of Africa”.

Think of any difficult subject to photograph and Marius already either did it or is busy figuring out how to. Marius is also a pro in high-dynamic-range composite photography. This allows us to offer spectacular high-definition product photos and photos of hard-to-photograph subjects such as LCD billboards. Marius was also our first choice when we were commissioned to photograph one of Milkor’s UAVs for a teaser advert in the Nation Shield. Having studied Visual Communication, Marius is skilled in various other creative fields and is also our go-to Cinematographer.

Starting as a self-trained street photographer in Madagascar, Robin still won’t accept the title of professional photographer. This says everything about his humble personality, but absolutely nothing about his skill for documentary and situational portraiture. Robin beautifully captures the essence of people and events and has a knack for turning industrial products and processes into aesthetically pleasing works of art. His easy-going way of relating to people also got him into Account Management, even though words are his first love. Yes, Robin is also our favourite Content Writer.

Marike focused her photography career on corporate and content photography. Having studied and lectured photography, she prides herself in technical excellence and being able to provide quality photos of almost anything. Marike particularly excels in architectural photography, and her long-standing relationship with City Property landed her many published photos over the years. Being the creative director at Eksklusief, Marike is getting more and more picky about which projects she photographs herself, but is intricately involved in all Eksklusief’s photography projects.

Deidre is our key to quick turn-around times. Having a photo retoucher on board allows us to get our photos to our clients quicker, and Deidre is ultimately responsible for consistency between different photographers’ work within one project. Our diverse photography offering exposes her to various subject matters and photography styles, and being a passionate creative, she constantly strives to expand her skill set. She loves nature and horses so much that she lives on the outskirts of Pretoria where she can indulge in an adventurous lifestyle – to balance all the screentime, of course.

Our preferred stylist, Nadia, is a not-so-optional optional extra. Nadia is an amazing image consultant and photographic stylist and adds something special to any portrait photo session. Nadia was Marike’s first choice when she was commissioned to style and photograph models for an online store, which resulted in a huge fun-filled success. Nadia has a way to connect with people and is amazingly skilled at making anyone look and feel their best-possible selves.

There isn’t a business under the sun that won’t benefit from great, purposeful photography. If you’re still wondering whether we can get the job done, let’s call in the troops for a meet-up. Because we failed to mention, apart from photography, our other common denominator is a love for meet-ups over great coffee.
